Why do some car parks get full before others? Is it because they are cheaper, more spaces, better located, wider spaces and easier to manoeuvre perhaps. Well when I went into Manchester city centre last weekend the first car park I headed for certainly wasn't the cheapest place to park, in fact it was expensive compared to others, and it doesn't have as many spaces as a nearby multi storey, so why did I park there?

Several reasons, but before I tell you why I always park there let me tell you why I used it for the very first time a few years ago. Its located underneath an upmarket department store so my expectations were that it would be clean, well looked after and very safe, I was right on all 3 points. Had I drove into the car park and seen filthy littered oil stained floor surfaces my impression would be unsafe, and I certainly wouldn't have paid to park there. Whenever I go into Manchester I always park there now as I know it's safe, it's clean, it's in a great location and I don't mind paying a bit more for all that.

People have expectations and the car park is the first impression they get of the place they are visiting. Rough looking dirty car parks will spell danger for many people and will only encourage them to park elsewhere. This is one of the reasons why some car parks get full before others. Parking somewhere else can lead customers to shop somewhere else too. With all those Christmas shoppers out and about over the next few weeks not cleaning your car park could prove to be a very costly mistake.
