The UK has less available water per person than most other European countries. London is drier than Istanbul, and the South East of England has less water available per person than the Sudan and Syria.

Each person in the UK uses 150 litres of water a day. This amount includes cleaning, cooking, washing and flushing. Since 1930 it's been rising by 1% a year. This consumption level is not sustainable in the long-term. If no action is taken then climate change, population shifts and behaviour mean the UK will face increased water stress in the future.

Everyone needs to do their bit including employers. The government is encouraging businesses to invest in water saving technology. The use of environmentally friendly cleaning machines is one way businesses can do this.
