Cleaning Up in the Gulf

By Clean Sweep @ Aug 4, 2010 in Industry News
One company in America is cleaning up in 2 ways since the BP Gulf oil spill. It's not just the oil that is rising as this business's share price continues to soar.

Clean Harbors Inc who were contracted by government agencies and some private organisations to provide a wide range of both support and logistical services as part of the major clean up operation are certainly cleaning up both financially and physically. They are involved in many aspects of the major recovery operation which includes the containment, removal, disposal and recycling of the recovered oil.

Five hundred of the company's 7,000 employees are working with 2,000 additional local people hired to clean the beaches in Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.

Shares in Clean Harbors Inc are up 24% since the spill started on April 20th. And in May, the company said the oil spill in the Gulf will result in an increase in second quarter forecasted revenues this year of between 15 to 20 percent.

There are lots of online comments about it not being right their share prices rising in the midst of this disaster, especially when many people and businesses are suffering as a result. But whilst that's a fact somebody was going to get the contract for the clean up operation and it just happened to be them.

Just goes to show that some of the old sayings are so apt
'Where there's muck there's money'
